A Brief Bond
A Brief Bond
It was just a train, a journey to take,
A simple ride for routine’s sake.
But amidst the crowd and endless pace,
I found a friend in that fleeting space.
A smile exchanged, a nod of the head,
Words unspoken, yet much was said.
Through the rattling wheels and the rush outside,
A bond was formed on that metal ride.
We talked of skies, of dreams and fears,
Of joys we held, of unshed tears.
Strangers once, but now it seemed,
We’d known each other through lives unseen.
The miles flew by, the stations passed,
But every moment felt like it could last.
Through laughter shared and silences deep,
A friendship blossomed, a memory to keep.
The train slowed down, the whistle blew,
A signal clear that the end was due.
Your station arrived, and you stood to go,
My heart sank low, yet I didn’t show.
A handshake firm, a parting smile,
Our paths diverged after that short while.
I watched as you faded into the crowd,
The silence now felt painfully loud.
It hurts, oh, how it stings inside,
To lose a friend in the turn of a tide.
A bond so brief, yet cherished still,
Leaves a hollow no time can fill.
The train moves on, as life must do,
But my thoughts remain tethered to you.
Will we meet again? Who can say,
In another train, on another day?
For now, I carry the gift you gave,
A fleeting bond that made me brave.
To open my heart in a world so fast,
And cherish connections, though they may not last.
Such is the nature of life, I suppose,
Like passing stations, where no one knows,
Which faces will linger, which will depart,
Yet all leave their mark upon the heart.
So, here I sit as the wheels hum low,
Thinking of you as the miles grow.
The train moves forward, but a part of me,
Stays at that station, where you chose to be.
It was just a journey, a ride, no more,
But it opened my heart and soul’s locked door.
Though it hurts to part, I’ll forever retain,
The joy of that friendship we found on the train.
