"I am Sorry but I am in Love with You"
"I am Sorry but I am in Love with You"
I’m sorry, but here’s my truth laid bare,
A feeling hidden, tangled in care.
It wasn’t planned, nor wished to be,
But love found its way, quietly, through me.
Forgive me, please, but I cannot lie,
I won’t bury this or pass it by.
For somewhere in glances, in words we exchanged,
My heart turned its course, my path rearranged.
I tried to hold back, to guard and to wait,
But love isn’t gentle, nor is it fate.
It rushes like rivers, it soars without wings,
Transforming life’s simplest, most ordinary things.
I don’t ask you to feel what I feel too,
Or bend your own heart for the sake of my truth.
But I’ll say it just once, then let silence remain:
I’m sorry, but my heart loves you, in joy and in pain.
So forgive me this, my one bold plea—
To love you as honestly as love loves to be.
And if nothing should change, I accept what’s in view,
But I won’t lie to myself, nor to you.
