I Cannot Plant in Another’s Field —Rupesh Ranjan
I Cannot Plant in Another’s Field
—Rupesh Ranjan
I cannot plant a sapling in another’s field,
I cannot water it without asking,
I cannot take soil from someone else’s land
and plant it in my own pot.
I have the seeds,
but I cannot give them life.
I want to plant,
to water them,
to nurture them,
to watch them grow.
For that, I need a field,
a pot,
some soil,
and a bit of fertilizer.
But I am poor —
I cannot buy any of these.
I must work in others’ fields,
perhaps earn a little money,
and there, maybe,
I can tend to the plants too.
I do something now,
earn a few coins,
but not enough to buy a field.
And if I work on another’s land,
it becomes hard to run my home.
I stand in this dilemma —
The seeds are with me,
but not the soil.
The dream lives within me,
but the means do not.
There’s greenery in my heart,
but only dry dust in my hands. 🌱
